Swingman Marquis Daniels Signs with Celtics
Sept. 3 -- Free agent guard-forward Marquis Daniels has been signed by the the 2008 NBA championship Boston Celtics.
After turning higher offers from other teams, the versatile 6'6" player is expected to earn more than the $1.99 million biannual exception on a one-year deal, according to reports. He became a free agent on July 1 after the Indiana Pacers decided not to pick up his $7.5 million team option.
Daniels is expected to complement Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and could also fill-in at point guard. Last season, he averaged 13.6 points and 4.6 boards in 54 games for the Pacers, missing the final 13 games with a wrist injury. In five seasons with Dallas and Indiana, Daniels averaged 9.4 points per game.
