Isiah Thomas Lands Top Hoops Recruit for FIU

Aug. 10 -- Florida International basketball coach Isiah Thomas landed 6-foot-8, 215-pound forward Dominique Ferguson for his program.

Ferguson, currently ranked 15th in the class of 2010, is considered a legitimate McDonald's All-American candidate. He had previously committed to play for Billy Gillispie at Kentucky but reopened his recruitment process after John Calipari took over the Wildcats. Arizona, Florida, Duke, Connecticut, Indiana and UCLA were supposedly also interested in recruiting Ferguson.

Beating out such high profile programs for a big time recruit is a big deal for Thomas. trying to rebuild his reputation after some disastrous years with the New York Knicks organization.
