Eduardo Najera to be Traded to Dallas Mavericks

Jan. 11 -- Forward Eduardo Najera is expected to be a member of the Dallas Mavericks by the end of Monday, if the NBA office puts its stamp of approval on the trade with the Nets. Owner Mark Cuban will save about $4.7 million on the deal, in salary and with the smaller luxury-tax check he'll have to write to the NBA.

Najera, 33, did not play much this season for the Nets, getting into just 13 games. The 6-8 power forward was averaging 3.8 points and 2.9 rebounds in 16 minutes per game.

His acquisition also reduces the Mavericks' roster to 14 players. That means if a specific player that was a good fit were to come available after the trade deadline, the Mavericks could accommodate the player.
