Michael Jordan and Bobcats Donate to School Athletic Programs
Aug. 30 -- Team owner Michael Jordan and the NBA's Charlotte Bobcats announced a $250,000 donation to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg school system in North Carolina to help fund middle-school athletics programs this academic year.
Jordan, regarded as perhaps the greatest NBA player in history, has reaped a fortune in his post-basketball career and purchased the Bobcats earlier this year.
There are 32 middle schools in Charlotte-Mecklenburg, with teams in 13 sports and involving about 6,500 students.
Michael Jordan-Bulls DVDs carries Jordan complete game DVDs, such as his 69-point game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, his 55-point "double-nickel" game vs. the Knicks in Madison Square Garden, and his 59-point masterpiece against the Pistons, among many others.
