Illinois Governor Taps Ex-NBAer as Youth Advisor

Oct. 25 -- Illinois Governor Pat Quinn has tapped former Chicago Bulls point guard B.J. Armstrong as an adviser on youth outreach.

The governor's office announced Armstrong's new role on Saturday as part of the state's youth anti-violence efforts. The ex-Bull said in a statement that young people "need strong support from their community and family to stay healthy and safe."

Among his responsibilities, B.J. will advise the governor on youth sports, anti-obesity programs and promoting sportsmanship. He was a member of Chicago Bulls teams that won six NBA championships during the 1990's.
