BULLS CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES
1991 NBA Finals Series - Bulls vs. Lakers - All 5 Games - $35

It was billed as the dream Finals matchup - Magic vs. Michael; the consummate team player vs. perhaps the greatest individual talent to ever play the game. Magic had already won five Championship rings during the 1980‘s, but Jordan was seeking his first. The Lakers came in to Chicago Stadium and narrowly took Game 1, but the Bulls were dominant thereafter, sweeping the rest of the series in five games to win their first Championship. Game 2 featured the famous, “Oh, a spectacular move by Michael Jordan” call by Marv Albert in response to MJ’s lefty bank-shot after switching hands mid-air.
1992 NBA Finals Series - Bulls vs. Blazers - All 6 Games - $35

Although the best-known game in this hard-fought series was Jordan’s Game One 35 point first-half explosion, including six 3-pointers, the games were very competitive. Comparisons were made throughout the contest between Clyde Drexler and MJ, as Sports Illustrated dubbed him Jordan's "No. 1 rival". The Bulls won the series in six games, with MJ being named the Finals MVP for the second year in a row.
1993 NBA Finals Series - Bulls vs. Suns - All 6 Games - $35

The Suns, led by regular season MVP Charles Barkley, met the Bulls for an exciting six game series, ultimately won by the Bulls. There was plenty of drama, in addition to a very high level of exciting offensive-style basketball. Both teams also played excellent defense, especially at the end of tight games. The series featured a thrilling 3OT Suns win in Game 3, and Jordan’s 55-points in Game 4.
1996 NBA Finals Series - Bulls vs. Sonics - All 6 Games - $35

Called the greatest team in league history, by some, the Bulls won 72 games in Jordan’s first full season back after his baseball hiatus. The Bulls main addition was the mercurial Dennis Rodman, who dominated the boards all season, and staged an epic dual with Sonic forward Frank Brickowski. The series featured blowouts on both sides, as the Sonics won two straight at Key Arena after it appeared that they were dead in the water. Shawn Kemp was at times unstoppable, and played what many feel was his best basketball during the series.
1997 NBA Finals Series - Bulls vs. Jazz - All 6 Games - $35

The first of two Finals series between the two teams featured several unforgettable moments, including Jordan’s buzzer-beater in Game 1 and his gutsy performance in Game 5 after coming down with a stomach virus. Another big moment came when Steve Kerr buried a key jumper in Game 6 off a pass from Jordan to seal the series win for the Bulls. It was Chicago’s fifth title win in as many tries, and set up the second of the famed three-peats.
1998 NBA Finals Series - Bulls vs. Jazz - All 6 Games - $35

The 1998 Finals garnered a huge amount of attention from media, fans and casual observers, given the possibility that it might by Jordan’s last go-roound. The series earned the highest Nielsen TV Rating in NBA history at 18.7, higher than the World Series of that year. It was a hard-fought, intense Championship, with most of the games going down to the wire; the exception being the Game 3 96-54 humiliation for Utah at Chicago Stadium. In the end, it came down to Jordan and Bryon Russell at the top of the key with less than 10 second left in Game 6. MJ hit the shot, John Stockton missed at the buzzer and the Bulls wrapped up their sixth Championship and second “three-peat.”
PREMIER MICHAEL JORDAN PERFORMANCES
69 pts - Chicago Bulls vs. Cleveland Cavaliers - 03/28/90

In his career-high scoring game, MJ victimized the Cavs once again in a 117-113 overtime win for the Bulls. He also had 18 rebounds, six assists and four steals. It is rated the best all-around game by a player since 1978, according to the Player Efficiency Ratings assigned by statistician John Hollinger. Jordan leads the list, with 14 of the 27 top performances. The game was hotly contested, as the Cavs were trying to win their way into the playoffs. Coach Lennie Wilkins received two technicals and was ejected early in the third quarter for protesting a 'breakaway' foul on Jordan by John Williams. More
64 pts - Chicago Bulls vs. Orlando Magic - 01/16/93

Michael Jordan was at his best, scoring 64 points on 26 of 47 shooting, but the defending World Champion Bulls still fell to the upstart Magic, 128-124, in an overtime thriller at Chicago Stadium. MJ came out firing, putting up 22 in the first quarter alone. Rookie Shaquille O'Neal had a strong outing, with 29 points and a team-record 24 rebounds. He was supported by point guard Scott Skiles' 31 points and 10 assists. However, it was Magic shooting guard Nick Anderson who stole the show by hitting a 3-point shot with 1.4 seconds left in regulation that sent the game into overtime, then converting a crucial three-point play with 1:05 remaining in overtime.
63 pts - Chicago Bulls vs. Boston Celtics - 04/20/86

Rated one of the NBA's greatest individual performances, Jordan lit up every defender in front of him. In Game 2 of Chicago's first round matchup against the eventual NBA champion Celtics inside of the hallowed halls of the Boston Garden, he set a playoff record by scoring an amazing 63 points against what many considered to be one of the greatest NBA teams ever. The Celtics won the game, 135-131 in double-overtime, and went on to sweep the Bulls, but Jordan's playoff record still stands.
Said Celtics legend Larry Bird: "He is the most exciting, awesome player in the game today. I think it's just God disguised as Michael Jordan."
59 pts - Chicago Bulls vs. Detroit Pistons - 04/03/88

Coming back east from a Western Conference road trip and finishing up in Detroit, on Easter Sunday and in front of a national TV audience, MJ torched the Pistons in a two-point Bulls win, connecting on two free throws with four seconds left in the game to give the game to the Chicago Bulls. The loss was Detroit's fourth in a row, but the team went on to win the Championship later that year. Jordan set the Pontiac Silverdome record with 61 points on March 4, 1987. Reportedly, it was after this game that Pistons coach Chuck Daly developed the "Jordan rules." More
57 pts - Chicago Bulls vs. Washington Bullets - 12/23/92

Jordan tallied 57 points as the Bulls defeated the then-Bullets 107-98 in the Chicago Stadium. This was an unusually fast-paced game, with both teams getting up and down the floor. In addition to the points, Jordan also dished out 10 assists and had 3 steals and 1 block. Amazingly, he shot .750 from the three-point line (6-8), delighting the home crowd. Overall he was 22-37 (.595). A must-see game.
55 pts - Chicago Bulls vs. New York Knicks - 03/28/95

In a Top 5 Jordan game, four games after coming back from his first retirement MJ hung a "double nickel" (55 pts) on the New York Knicks in a riveting performance. The electric atmosphere was like Game 7 of the finals, opening night and the All-Star Game wrapped up in one. When Jordan walked onto the Garden floor for the first time in the season, it was as if he had never left. The Knicks fought hard to keep it close at the end, but lost to a brilliant pass by - of course - Jordan. One of the best games of all-time. More
53 pts - Detroit Pistons vs. Chicago Bulls - 03/07/96

Grant Hill, thought by some to be the league’s new 'torch-carrier’ after Jorden retired the first time, was among the long line of heir-apparents to get torched by the real thing. Jordan, shooting an absurd 78%, hit 14 - 16 in the second half and 21 - 28 overall for 53 points, to go with 11 boards, and six steals. Hill struggled at 5-16 for 13 points. The Bulls were an astounding 54 - 6 at the conclusion of the game, and 30 - 0 at home.
52 pts - Chicago Bulls vs. Portland Trail Blazers - 02/26/88

Clyde Drexler scored career-high 42 points in a Portland win. Blazer teammate Kevin Duckworth had 9 of his 27 points in the fourth quarter. Drexler also had 9 assists and 8 steals. Along with his 52 points, Jordan also tallied 8 rebounds and 3 assists. He equaled his best scoring effort for the season; MJ had 52 against Cleveland on Dec. 17, 1987. More
52 pts - Chicago Bulls vs. Philadelphia 76ers - 11/16/88

Jordan had an amazing outing, shooting a stunning 24/29 for an .828 field-goal percentage and breaking the Philadelphia Spectrum record of 51 by Moses Malone against Detroit on Nov. 4, 1984. He started out hitting 21 of his first 23 shots, then went 3 for his last 6. MJ also had 9 rebounds and 4 steals. Sixer Charles Barkley scored 42 points (shooting 18-25 for a gaudy .720 field goal percentage) and grabbed 16 rebounds. More
50 pts - Chicago Bulls vs. Miami Heat - 11/06/96

The Bulls defeated the Heat behind 50 from Jordan and some sterling defense. The game was a chippy and intense one with Heat center Kurt Thomas and Dennis Rodman exchanging bumps and unpleasantries on several occasions. Heat center Alonzo Mourning scored 33, in a losing effort. The contest remained tight throughout, but the experienced Bulls put in some distance in the latter part of the fourth quarter
49 pts - Chicago Bulls vs. Boston Celtics - 04/17/86

In his first playoff game against the heavily-favored Boston Celtics, Jordan put his explosive skills on display for all to marvel at. The Bulls came out very aggressively, looking anything like an underdog, and making the Garden faithful very nervous. The Celtics held a slim half-time lead, 61-59, despite a 28-point onslaught by Jordan who abused a variety of defenders including Danny Ainge, Dennis Johnson, and Rick Carlisle with an assortment of fall-away jumpers and dunks. Although Boston's experience and strength in the middle with Parrish and McHale allowed them to prevail, it was a much more competitive game than most had expected, with the Bulls remaining close throughout much of the contest.
47 pts - Chicago Bulls vs. New York Knicks - 04/19/88

Michael, playing at Madison Square Garden before a capacity crowd of 19,591, shot 17/23 and had one of the craziest slams ever when he started from the left corner, twisted a few times in midair, then finished by tomahawking the ball through the net. The game telecast was briefly interrupted by a live presentation of Dr. J of the 76ers having his number officially retired in Philadelphia. By putting up 47, Jordan clinched his second straight scoring title. The Knicks were led by Patrick Ewing and Mark Jackson, the runaway choice for the Rookie of the Year. More
46 pts - Chicago Bulls vs. Detroit Pistons - 05/27/89

With future teammate Dennis Rodman guarding him in Game 3 of the 1989 Eastern Conference Finals, Jordan won the game for the Bulls with the pull-up jumper with three seconds left. The Bulls erased a 13-point deficit in the final six minutes to stun the Pistons and took a 2-1 championship series lead. Chicago kept answering back after each Piston burst, until finally the Bulls went ahead for good in the final seconds, the first time they had led since the second quarter. Isiah Thomas, who had turned in a sparkling performance in previous Pistons' victory, only managed to score 5 points.
45 pts - Chicago Bulls vs. Utah Jazz - 06/14/98

At the time it seemed to be a picture-perfect ending to both a Championship series and a legendary career. In the last minute of the game with the Delta Center in a frenzy, when John Stockton passed the ball to Karl Malone, MJ stole the ball away and dribbled into the frontcourt. Guarding him was Bryon Russell, one of the Jazz's best perimeter defenders. Jordan drove inside the 3-point line, crossed him over and hit a 20-foot jump shot that hit nothing but net to give the Bulls an 87-86 lead with 5.2 seconds left. After Stockton's three-point attempt missed, the Bulls had their sixth NBA title in 8 years. Jordan, whose game-winning shot has been immortalized, was named Finals MVP.
45 pts - Chicago Bulls vs. Orlando Magic - 05/27/96

In the ultimate redemption for the Bulls playoff defeat by the Magic the previous year, Jordan scorched Orlando by shooting 16-23, a 70% clip, and hitting 3 - 4 from 3pt. range. The Bulls swept the Magic in four games. Orlando’s Anfernee ‘Penny’ Hardaway and Shaq both had 28 points in the game and series loss. Shaq started hot, but the Bulls just wore down their younger adversaries, winning decisively.
44 pts - Chicago Bulls vs. Cleveland Cavaliers - 05/07/89

"Bulls Win, Bulls Win!!" was the exuberant play-by-play call by announcer "Red" Kerr when MJ's last-second hanging jumper nestled through the net, burying the hopes of the Cavs yet again. Of all the memorable shots that Jordan made in his illustrious career, this might have been his most famous basket; one that we've seen replayed over and over. It came over the hapless Craig Ehlo to win Game 5, 101-100, and eliminate the Cavaliers from the first round of the playoffs.
42 pts - Chicago Bulls vs. New York Knicks - 05/17/92

"Whose game is it? It's Michael Jordan's game!" So exclaimed Magic Johnson, who was providing color commentary on one of the most intense games in NBA playoff history; Game 7 between the Bulls and Knicks. Jordan came out "on fire", as Marv Albert would say, setting the pace with aggressive offensive and defensive play. Things got testy in the early going when he and Xavier McDaniel literally went head to head over a disagreement involving Scottie Pippen. In the end, Jordan's overall brilliance was too much for the Knicks as he dipped and swooped his way to 42 points, while Pippen tallied a triple-double - 17 points to go along with 11 rebounds and 11 assists. The Bulls moved on to face the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals.
39 pts - Chicago Bulls vs. Portland Trail Blazers - 06/03/92

Bball historians know this game as "The Shrug," a human reaction to a superhuman performance. MJ reportedly wasn't happy about whispers around the league that Clyde Drexler should have won the league's MVP trophy. So he burned Drexler and the Blazers with six 3-pointers and 35 points in an unbelievable first half of Game 1 of the NBA Finals, where he just couldn't seem to miss. After sinking yet another three-pointer, Jordan looked over at Magic Johnson, who was broadcasting on the game, and gave a sheepish smile and small shrug as if to say, "I don't understand it either." A classic moment.
39 pts - Chicago Bulls vs. Utah Jazz - 06/13/97

The Bulls fifth title came courtesy of another brilliant Jordan performance and one of the most famous passes in Finals history. After he beat the Jazz at the buzzer of Game 1, the Bulls expected MJ might be double-teamed with the score tied at 86 near the end of Game 6. The finish was memorable for Jordan's pass to reserve guard Steve Kerr who knocked down an open 17-foot jumper to seal the deal. Replays before the play took place showed Kerr assuring Jordan during a timeout that he would be ready to receive the pass and hit the shot.
38 pts - Chicago Bulls vs. Utah Jazz - 06/11/97

The series was tied 2-2 and the 5th game of the Finals was at the frenzied Delta Center. The Jazz had won consecutive games, showing that the Bulls were vulnerable. MJ started the day with flu-like symptoms, and was a game time decision. Battling the debilitating illness, the Jazz and their raucous home crowd, MJ once again put the Bulls on his back and carried them. With 26 seconds left in the game, he drained a three-pointer to seize a lead his team would not surrender, and eventually wrapped up the series in six games.
31 pts - Chicago Bulls vs. New York Knicks - 05/05/92

A year after the first championship, the Bulls were on their way to a second straight title when they met up with the physical play of the Knicks led by Patrick Ewing in the second round of the Eastern Conference playoffs. Before game one at Chicago, the Bulls were talking about a sweep but tough inside play from Charles Oakley, Xavier McDaniel and Anthony Mason kept the Knicks on top throughout most of the contest. Jordan scored a hard-earned 31 points, but Ewing was the game's dominant force, with 34 points, 16 rebounds and 6 blocks - leading his team to a stunning first game upset.
21 pts - Chicago Bulls vs. New York Knicks - 05/14/92

Down three games to do, and in a "do or die" situation at Madison Square Garden, the Knicks and Patrick Ewing rose to the occasion and employed ferocious defense along with timely offense to defeat the Bulls 100-86. Ewing, on a badly sprained ankle, led his team with 27 points and 8 rebounds. Jordan only managed to score 21 points, and looked decidedly tired in the fourth quarter. The series was knotted at three games a piece, with the deciding Game 7 to be played at Chicago Stadium.
23 pts - All-Star Game - 02/08/98
A "mano-a-mano" duel between Air and Heir, Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant took turns firing up shots in their first All-Star battle. The event was held in New York's Madison Square Garden. The East won the game 135-114 and Jordan earned MVP honors, scoring 23 points, grabbing 6 rebounds, and dishing out 8 assists. Young Bryant, in an impressive debut (in only his second year), led the Western Conference in scoring with 18 points on 7 for 16 shooting. Larry Bird coached the Eastern Conference team.
1992 All-Star Game - 02/09/92 - Game MVP: Magic Johnson
The 42nd edition of the All-Star Game, held at the Orlando Arena, is most remembered for the return and vintage performance of Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson, who retired before the 1991-92 NBA season after contracting HIV. Johnson won the MVP award after winning one-on-one showdowns near the end of the game with Isiah Thomas and Michael Jordan, then sinking a long three pointer to at the close
NCAA Title Game: North Carolina Tar Heels vs. Georgetown Hoyas - 03/29/82

The Michael Jordan legend was born with his first major "Shot," which came at the end of one of the best NCAA title games of all-time. Along with junior James Worthy, freshman Jordan led North Carolina to the ACC championship, the regular season No.1 ranking, and the Tar Heels' first championship in 25 years. Against Georgetown, led by freshman sensation Patrick Ewing, in the Louisiana Superdome, Worthy scored 28 points while Jordan hit the winning jump shot as the Tar Heels edged the Hoyas, 62-61. Worthy, who was named Tourament MVP, also received an errant pass in the waning seconds from Georgetown's Fred Brown to secure the victory.
